The dust cover and stainless steel or solid brass hinges are of exceptional quality and made exclusively for the SMD Acoustics range of plinths.

The dust cover is made from 5mm thick clear acrylic and is precision cut on a CNC machine ensuring all the hinge mountings and the engraved logo are perfect prior to final fabrication assembly which is done by our skilled craftsmen with many years of experience.

Each pair of hinges is machined on a Doosan 5 axis CNC milling machine. The hinges are machined from solid grade 304 stainless steel or brass. This process is time consuming with each set of hinges taking over 2 hours to produce but the finished result is a bespoke pair of hinges that look and feel a million dollars that will last a lifetime.

The hinge back plate starts life…. as a solid block of stainless steel 70mm x 45mm x 30mm with a weight of 745 grams (nearly 2lbs) before being machined.
